[MVHS] Musical Therapy
September 6th, 2019
REMEMBERING KENDRA CHAN
Writing to you all and sharing my thoughts is my therapy. When this isn't enough, I rely on music to help me grieve. For all the former MVHS students who are also struggling with this, I humbly offer you some musical therapy. Understanding that everyone processes in their own way, I have two very different options for you - my recommendation is to do nothing but listen, reflect, and exist.
Dmitri Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony op. 110a - This adapted quartet explores the composer's own struggle with the end through a roller coaster of different emotions. Recommended for those who need a good cry... Not a particularly happy piece.
David Maslanka's "Give Us This Day" - This short symphony connects music to reality, inspires mindfulness, and gives a hopeful glimpse into the future. Recommended for everyone.
