Marching Band & Color Guard
A competitive field Marching Band open to all performers. Prior musical or dance experience is recommended but not necessary for Winds, Percussion, or Color Guard.
Color Guard is an integral component to the Marching Band. The Guard serves as the visual representation of the music through dance and the use of various equipment such as flags, rifles, and sabres. Prior dance experience is recommended but not necessary. The guard will perform at the fall competition shows, campus events and community functions.
During the first quarter this class meets after school on Mondays and Thursdays and all day Saturdays. Summer training is offered for Color Guard and Percussion.
Marching Band and Color Guard (auxiliary) meet August through November and perform at many local competitions beginning in October. Attendance at all rehearsals and performances is required. Students are expected to attend a summer Band Camp preceding the beginning of school. Because most activities associated with Marching Band occur during the first quarter, students are encouraged to concurrently enroll in another, year-long musical group such as Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, or Orchestra.
